BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 A.M.) - Russian military aircraft delivered urgent humanitarian aid to the Khmeimim airbase in Syria’s Latakia Province on Friday.
According to the Deputy Head of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation Mikhail Zavalov the aid package includes sweets, gifts and school stationery for the New Year. The 25-tons of cargo were donated by Russian public organisations from Ingushetia.
On Thursday, the Russian Defence Ministry announced in a statement that two military personnel had died in a mortar attack against the airbase on December 31.
Officials said reports of suggesting seven Russian military aircraft had been destroyed were baseless.
