BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:50 P.M.) - The British Labour Party called on its members, Thursday, to block the attempt by some parliament members to ban Hezbollah and label them an outright terrorist group.
According to Israel’s Haaretz, a Labour member of the Friends of Israel organization, Joan Ryan, is attempting to completely ban both Hezbollah’s military and political wings, claiming they are indistinguishable to the House of Commons.
“Hezbollah declares itself to be one organization without distinguishable political or military wings,” Ryan alleges.
However, Ryan’s motion is facing fierce criticism from within her own political party, as Labour members handed out leaflets to lawmakers on Thursay, claiming that an outright ban of Hezbollah “could be a move against dialogue and meaningful peace negotiations in the Middle East."
Hezbollah has two separate wings in Lebanon, with its political wing holding a large presence inside the Lebanese Parliament.
